                    Premature Explosion of Powder at
                         Champion Iron Mine
                         Proved Disastrous.
                         
              By the premature explosion of powder at the
            Champion mine at Champion, Tuesday, Victor
            Westerbrook, a miner, was instantly killed.
            Seven others were seriously injured.
