Marquette, Mich., - Marquette's chief of police, MARTIN FORD, and Patrolman THOMAS THORNTON met death with their revolvers clutched in their hands. In the gun battle that cost them their lives, which began near Boucher's drug store here and ended at Chocolay, four miles away, JOHN LEMPF, their slayer, was shot to death, and FLOYD FORD, son of the police chief, was seriously wounded. ==========================================================================
