An Attempt Made to Blow Up JAMES PENDILL'S Home in Marquette. CITIZENS MUCH AROUSED No Clue Has Been Obtained As to the Perpetrators of the Crime - Little Damage Done. A dastardly attempt was made Tuesday morning to wreck with dynamite the home of JAMES PENDILL at Marquette. MR. PENDILL has been active of late in enforcing the Sunday closing law against saloon men, and it is suspected that this outrage is the direct outcome of his efforts in that line. The explosive was placed just below the surface of the ground, next to the stone foundation of the house, and was evidently done by one inexperienced in the use of dynamite, so that the house did not get the full force of the explosion. Most of the windows in the house were shattered, but very lit- tle other damage resulted. Several windows in the neighborhood were also broken, and the occupants of the houses were pretty badly scared. MR. PEN- DILL'S family of five, and two servant girls, were asleep in the house at the time, but no one was injured. People generally are very indignant and the attempted murder has strengthened the hands of MR. PENDILL in his fight against the saloons. The police are working diligently on the case, and they believe they will be able to run down the perpetrators of the outrage. ==========================================================================
