         Fatal Fire at Manistee
         
         Manistee, Mich., Jan. 8 - The Filer Town furniture
       factory, one of Manistee's largest industries , was
       totally destroyed by fire at daybreak Monday morning.
       Loss, $40,000; insurance, $18,000. WILLIAM CHAMBERS,
       an employe in the finishing department, started to
       work early and lit a lamp, which instantly exploded,
       setting fire to CHAMBERS' clothes and burning him to
       death.
