         CHRISTIAN HAUSER is one of the pioneers of Manistee County.
       He is a native of Germany, and came to this country in 1846. 
       He first came to Racine, Wis., where he remained until 1853, 
       when he came to Manistee, and cast his lot in the wilderness 
       with the little handful of people who were here at that time. 
       He has witnessed the growth of the place thus far and has 
       always been active in public matters. He has held several 
       public offices, and in all of them has rendered faithful and 
       efficient service. He held the office of supervisor for several 
       years, was alderman in 1872-'73, and is now serving his second 
       term as county treasurer. He is a prominent member of several 
       benevolent societies, and is a gentleman who has the respect 
       and confidence of the public.
