AUGUSTUS TODD, widely known at one period through- out the lakes as commander of barks and steam crafts, died at his residence at Mackinaw City, where he has resided since his retirement from the lakes. He was at one time a resident of Conneaut, sailing vessels out of that port as early as 1834, and afterwards from Buffalo. After leaving the lakes he was elected one term a Representative to the Michigan Legislature, while the Capitol was at Detroit. CAPT. TODD was upward of 70 years of age. [Transcriber's Note: His tombstone lies broken in Saint Ann's Cemetery on Mackinac Island. It bears the following inscription: "Augustus Todd Died Oct. 2, 1873 Aged 65 y's 6 m's & 6 d's" ===============================================================================
