The Hillsdale Whig Standard
Tuesday, 15 December 1846

         Sudden Death - We are this week called upon to
       notice the sudden demise of Mr. GEO. W. HICKS, of
       this place, from an affection of the heart. He
       attended Church on the last Sabbath during the
       day and evening, apparently in better health than
       usual. About 5 o'clock on Monday morning; he in-
       quired the time, of a person sleeping in the same
       room with him, and on being told the hour, he re-
       plied that it was too early to rise yet; and in
       a few minutes after he died with but a struggle.
