PETTIS, about one mile southwest of Tecumseh village. MR. JOHN LOWE, one of the proprietors of a threshing machine, was at MR. PETTIS' with the machine, and had been threshing wheat, MR. LOWE himself feeding the machine. For some cause the speed of the machine had been slacked, and MR. LOWE, for some purpose, stepped over the cylinder from the usual position of the feeder, and as he moved to return he called to the driver to put on the speed again, and stepping over the cylinder he fell upon the feeding apron with his legs against the revolving teeth. In a moment his left leg was ground off above the knee and his right foot was taken off a little above the ankle. The sight of the man's mutilated, mangled limbs was horrible. Dr. Patterson, of Tecumseh, was called, and afforded professional aid in checking the bleeding, but the shock, with the loss of blood, was such that the unfortunate man rapidly sank and died in the night. - Adrian Watchtower, July 24. ===========================================================================
