New Series No. 24 Thursday, November 2, 1882 PROF. SAMUEL M. WILLIAMS, a young colored man of Lapeer, and graduate of the university, who went to Washington to enter the census office, has recently begun attendance at the Columbia law school in that city. Being the first colored man to enter the school, some of the other students, most of whom are government clerks, etc., made a fuss about it and tried to have the man of dusky hue bounced out on general principles, but this could not be accomplished.
