              D. P. SMITH, son of HIRAM SMITH, was born in Almont, 
         August 8, 1852, and educated in the schools of Almont.  At
         the age of seventeen he learned tailoring with his father,
         and has continued in that business until the present time.
         His shop is on the corner of St. Clair and Main Streets,
         Almont.  He was married August 1, 1877, to Miss MARY P.
         MYERS, and has two children.
