Tuesday, 18 January 1859

         Horrible Death - A sad and melancholy accident
       occurred of Saturday afternoon last, by the 
       strangulation of a child. It appears that a little
       girl, aged five years, daughter of JOHN ZINZER, who
       resides on Jefferson Street, West Side, was swing-
       ing on the clothes line, jumping from a box which
       stood near. By so doing, the rope became stretched,
       and the child, in her play kicked the box away, got
       the rope twisted around her neck, and before aid
       could be rendered, life was extinct.
