         HENRY MASTENBROOK, a farmer living near Vergennes,
       Kent county, became so enraged at the result of a
       lawsuit between him and his neighbor, SIDNEY BECK-
       WITH, that he took his gun and went into the field
       where BECKWITH had been at work, it is believed with
       the intention of killing him. Not finding him, he
       retraced his steps, and when nearly home placed the
       gun on end, with the muzzle to his forehead, and 
       blew his head to atoms.
