DAUGHTER SEES MOTHER RECEIVE FATAL INJURIES
Mrs. Nettie Cronk Struck by Auto at Monroe av. and Leonard St.
    SKULL IS FRACTURED
Death comes at hospital Sunday; Other Accidents Reported

Mrs. Nettie Cronk, 42, of 2010 Edgewood av. N.E., hurt in an automobile accident Saturday afternoon in which she received a fracture of the skull, died early Sunday at Butterworth hospital without regaining consciousness after being struck.

The accident occurred at Monroe av. and Leonard St. a moment after Mrs. Cronk and her daughter, Mary, 17, had alighted from a Plainfield Street Car.

    Firemen Take Number.

As the mother and daughter crossed Monroe av. on their way to the Leonard St. Bridge, the automobile swung around the corner cutting across the left side of the street, it was reported to the police. Although almost across the street, Mrs. Cronk was struck by the machine, which was stopped for a moment and then the driver went on when he noticed others had gone to assist the injured woman.

Firemen at engine house No. 5 took the license number of the automobile. Miss Mary Cronk also took the number. With the help of an elderly man and a young woman Miss Cronk made her mother comfortable until she could be taken to the hospital.

Sunday evening Joseph DeBoer, 418 Diamond av. S.E., driver of the death car, went to the hospital and left his car number in case his presence is required. Coroner Simeon LeRoy talked with DeBoer Monday.

Coroner LeRoy conferred with Prosecuting Attorney Cornelius  ***gus regarding the case.

DeBoer Monday denied that he was in any way responsible for the accident, saying Mrs. Cronk had walked in front of his automobile.

    FUNERAL TO BE WEDNESDAY

William F. Cronk, the husband, and the children of the woman were at her bedside when death came. The body was removed to the home Sunday afternoon.

Besides the widower, Mrs. Cronk's second husband, nine children survive.
