Deacon STEARNS has for several years been a faithful member and officer of the Baptist church in this place, and the vacancy caused by his sudden death will be deeply felt. The young man HUNTLEY was recently from Ohio, and had been with the family but a short time, but by his faithfulness and modest demeanor had merited respect and confidence. He had no relatives in this State. The funeral will be held to-day (Monday), at the Baptist Church in this village, and the bodies of the deceased will be carried to Brooklyn, the former home of the family, for burial. Transcriber's Note: The 1870 Census Mortality Schedule of Jackson County, MI., gives the son's name as Ernest Stearns. The father's name is incorrect in this obituary. The Census Mortality Schedule and his tombstone bear the name of ALANSON STEARNS. Also found on the 1860 Census of Brookly, Jackson County, MI. The article above also mis-names George Huntley. The Mortality Schedule gives his surname as HUNDERLEY. His tomb- stone is laying flat and partially covered with dirt around the edges but one can make out "HUND---" ===============================================================================
