- Iosco County -
Located on the shore of Lake Huron in the northeast section of Michigan's lower peninsula. Created from unorganized territory in 1840 and attached to Cheboygan, Mackinac and Saginaw until its organization on February 16, 1857. Given the name Kanotin when created, the name was changed to Iosco in 1843. The county seat is Tawas City.
