It seems that he was getting over a fence, slipped and fell on the knife, cut- ting him nearly in two. His intestines protruded from the wound so that he was obliged to hold them in with his hand until he reached the house, which was near by. A surgeon was called and dressed the wound, but pronounced it a hopeless case. At last accounts he was still alive but in great agony. Transcriber's Note: Truman Raymond did not survive. His name is found on the 1870 Census Mortality Schedule of Ionia County, MI. ===============================================================================
