MR. POTTER was looking at a thresher when a traction engine belonging to the Lansing iron works and run by WM. CADY came up from behind and knocked him down. Before he could arise his foot was caught and the wheel was jammed with terrible force against his right side. Besides the frac- ture of several ribs he was severely injured internally. He was taken to the home of JAS. TUBBS in North Lansing, where members of his family took care of him. He suffered great pain and steadily weakened until two o'clock Friday afternoon, when he passed away. MR. POTTER was a native of New York, and was 70 years old the 2d day of last March. He settled in the township of Ingham, in this county, 48 years ago, moving thence to Alaiedon 32 years ago. From that time he continued to reside on his farm three miles north and two miles east of Mason. He was a temperate, honest man, greatly respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the Ingham county pioneer society and held various township and school district offices. He leaves a wife and four sons. ===============================================================================
