CHAPTER III
EARLY TOWNSHIP HISTORY
AN EARLY MILLIONAIRE

      One of the few millionaires who have lived in Huron
  County was GEORGE W. PACK.  At the meeting of the
  board of supervisors in 1864 he was on the equalization
  committee and the valuation of the county was $539,733,
  Caseville having the highest valuation, $72,524.  It was
  at this meeting that Port Austin was selected as the
  county seat.
