                       INFIRMARY CHIMNEY FALLS,
                             THREE DEAD
                       ------------------------
                       
                     HOUGHTON, Aug. 20. - (AP) -
                   Three persons were dead and ten 
                   others were undergoing treatment
                   for injuries here today as a re-
                   sult of the collapse of a 60-foot
                   brick chimney at the Houghton 
                   county infirmary during a severe
                   windstorm Saturday night.
                     The huge chimney collapsed upon
                   the west wing of the infirmary,
                   wrecking it completely and burying
                   several persons in the debris.
                     The dead were: Fred Jarvey, 38,
                   of South Range; Miss Cordelia 
                   Trudeau, of Chassell, and Mrs. Ida
                   Anderson, of Tapiola.
                     Miss Trudeau, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs.
                   Minnie Johnson were buried in the 
                   wreckage and had to be dug out by fire-
                   men.  Mrs. Johnson is suffering from
                   shock and a fractured shoulder.
                     There were 118 inmates in the build-
                   ing when the chimney collapsed but most
                   of them were in the east wing of the
                   infirmary, which was not damaged.
