XXI Wynkoop Ballenbeck Crawford Co., State Printers 1912-1913 [page 130] LEONARD OLNEY died at his home in Hillsdale, May 31, 1892. MR. OLNEY was born in Niles, Cayuga Co., N.Y., Aug. 7, 1815, where he resided until 1844 when he removed to Indiana. In 1846 he removed to Hillsdale and settled on a new farm about half a mile north of the city, which he improved and culti- vated until a few years ago when he removed to his fine resi- dence on college hill on account of failing health, leaving one of the finest and best cultivated farms in the county. MR. OLNEY made a confession of Christian faith at the age of fifteen years when he joined the Baptist church. He had been a trustee of Hillsdale college for many years. He leaves a wife, three sons and a daughter, BENJAMIN L., Auburn, N.Y., Rev. EUGENE C., of Troy, N.Y., HENRY, of Hillsdale, and Mrs. HORTENSE A.
