The Hillsdale Standard
Tuesday, 12 July 1859

         Suicide - A young man named DELOS S. BARBER, of
       Wheatland, committed suicide on Wednesday last by
       shooting himself through the head, with a rifle.
       The deceased was engaged in teaching school, and
       committed the deed near the school House. He was
       a young man of extraordinary talent, and leaves
       many warm friends in that vicinity, where his par-
       ents reside. The cause and particulars of this
       tragedy we have not learned.
