McDOWELL, who died in this place on Tuesday, March 11, at the age of 104 years, was the oldest mason in the world. He was made a mason in lodge 298, Ballymaney, county of Antrim, Ireland, on the 23d of June, 1807. He was a Royal Arch Mason, Knight Templar, and Knight of Malt*, Ark and Mark degrees, and Priest, Lord and Knight of the Cross. He was a master in 1828, resigning that year to imigrate to Canada. We gather the above facts from the Hamilton, Ont., Spectator, of several years ago. About the time of the publication above referred to, an effort was made by masons throughout the world the then oldest living mason, and Mr. McDOWELL was finally declared authoritatively to be the oldest mason in the entire world. - Grand Traverse Herald. ===========================================================================
