FAIRBANKS, when the tow line was snapped or cast off during a severe northwest gale. Howling winds snatched away the hatch cloths allowing the heavy seas to enter the hold. The crew took to the yawl where they were tossed about for several hours until capsized when about 40 rods off Parisienne island. The lone survivor, Charles Larabee of Buffalo, spent two days on the island without food until rescued by a fishing boat. The fishing boat picked up the bodies of the rest of the crew from along the beach and took them to Sault Ste.
