OWNER(S): Great Lakes Naval Memorial & Musuem, Muskegon, MI MASTER: none TONNAGE: 232 tons (trial) DIMENSIONS: 125 x 23 x 7 CASUALTIES: none Awards: American Defense Service Medal American Campaign Medal Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with battle star World War II Victory Medal National Defense Service Medal with star On July 9, 1942 the McClane and YP-251 (Coast Guard manned) sunk Japanese submarine RO-32 off Sitka, Alaska. April, 1955 - took in tow the schooner Aute which had been disabled for 41 days with her crew of 6. towed to Westport, WA. This one only one of the disabled vessels that McClane towed to safety in her career. In 1993 USCGC McClane was donated to the Great Lakes Naval and Memorial Museum (U.S.S. Silversides Submarine Museum) in Muskegon, MI. In 2025, citing that the McClane's condition had deteriorated to such a degree that it was beyond the scope of feasible preservation and was not accessible for the public to tour, the vessel was taken away by King Towing to be dismantled by Pitsch Companies.
