In 1855 Buffalo insurance companies declined to insure the McBRIDE as they considered her to be unseaworthy. In April, 2015, with the blue waters of Lake Michigan crystal clear, a Traverse City based Coast Guard helicopter got some amazing images of shipwrecks off Sleeping Bear Point.
