Cassius French TONNAGE: 2323 gt, 1918 nt DIMENSIONS: 285.2 x 45 x 21.9 CASUALTIES: 10 of 19 Bound from Duluth to Buffalo with wheat when she ran into a westerly gale after entering Lake Erie. Making bad weather of it the captain decided to turn her around and let her lay at anchor with her head to the wind, but the effort gave little relief and the crew left the sinking vessel in two yawls. The yawl with the captain was picked up near the harbor. The other was found on the 17th by the steamer G. J. GRAMMER, floating upside down with no sign of the crew.
