Johnson of Buffalo, washed overboard when three miles off Milwaukee. Sept, 1881 - Struck a rock in Detroit river while in tow of the tug ALFRED PRINCE. Repair cost about $1,700. June 8, 1882 - Downbound on Lake Huron in tow of the tug JOHN MARTIN when a sudden squall sprang up causing a collision between the LAW and the schooner R. B. HAYES, also part of the tow. Ceilings and outside plankings broken from the planksheer to the bilge. Est. repair costs, $4,000. June 1883 - New mizzen mast May 2, 1884 - Second mate, James Horne, drowned at Buffalo. May 1885 - New mainmast, 105 1/2 feet June 22, 1886 - Drifted on the south bank of the channel 1/4 mile SE of the Erie life-saving station while being taken out of the harbor by a tug during a fresh northeast wind and head sea. Floated off with assistance from the Erie lifesaving crew. Sept 6, 1886 - Grounded in St. Clair river while in tow of the tug CHAMPION. July 19, 1893 - Downbound with corn in tow of the steamer EGYPTIAN ran into the schooner DAVID VANCE in Pelee Passage. The VANCE was in tow of the SAMOA. The LIZZIE LAW was run ashore on Pigeon Bay. Later raised by Augustus Hemmenger of Algonac & repaired at a cost of about $21,800. After the insurance was paid her owner, J. J. Ward of Chicago, abandoned her to the underwriters and sold at auction at Detroit in March, 1895. Purchased by Capt. James Davidson who gave her a thorough rebuild. June 1895 - Sunk the steamer SALINA in a collision in the Saginaw River while in tow of the ROBERT HOLLAND, Capt. James Davidson in command. Jan 1902 - All new hatch combings (5), four strakes, floors and deck repairs. May 1902 - Coal laden and bound Toledo to Duluth when she broke away from the steamer MONOHANSETT in a Lake Superior gale. Arrived at Munising with her sails blown to rags and eight feet of water in her hold. Oct 19, 1908 - In tow of steamer L. EDWARD HINES when both stranded about ten miles from Portage entry. LIZZIE A. LAW was pounded to pieces by the storm before she could be gotten off.
