Clapp TONNAGE: 2348 gt, 1875 nt DIMENSIONS: 296.16 x 40.33 x 21 CASUALTIES: None Had struck a rock while running in a fog and sank in shallow water at Detrour.Pumped out, patched and floated. Her cargo of coal was unloaded and she started for Detroit for repairs. When ninety miles out a serious leak was discovered and the pumps were unable to keep up. Distress signals were fired. The steamer BESSEMER came alongside and, after putting out lines, headed for Thunder Bay Island. GRECIAN was settling the whole time and snapping lines as fast as they were put out finally going down stern first.
