MARVIN, were bound for Tonawanda, N.Y., with lumber loaded at Baraga, MI. Storm warnings had been displayed and a heavy northwest gale was already blowing when the trio left Baraga. In the blinding snow and howling winds the CURTIS fought its way into Munising harbor, but, upon reaching safety Capt. Jennings was horrified to find that the PETERSON had broken her tow line some- where out in the storm. Many vessel masters would have most likely grimly accepted the loss but Capt. Jennings, risking ships and crews, turned back out into a storm that would be one of the worst that Lake Superior has ever seen to search for the missing PETERSON. Both vessels were lost with all hands. Among the lost: Capt. J. G. Jennings, Detroit, MI Alvid Ohman, mate, 65 Morgan st., Tonawanda, N.Y.
