CASUALTIES: 1 of 4 Was bound Chicago for Pentwater when she met with a northerly gale accompanied by blinding snow and was put back for Chicago in a leaking condition. She was run onto the breakwater when it became obvious that she could not be saved. The crew jumped for the breakwater upon impact, one being swept away. November, 1872, the MINNIE CORLETT went on the beach north of Ludington. Reported as going to pieces but was recovered and rebuilt. Pronounced "better than new" she was launched the following August.
