The hull, boiler and machinery will all be made in the city. The boat is intended for coasting between some of the northern Michigan ports. Last Saturday morning Capt. James Beauvais, of the Point Sauble life saving station, was pre- sented with a daughter, but had scarcely time to make her acquaintance before a signal of distress was discovered on a schooner some miles distant on the lake. The life boat was launched and after rowing over a turbulent sea some eight miles, reached the schooner MAGGIE GIPSON, shingle laden from Manistee to Sheboygan. The vessel had sprung a leak, and the crew had been busily engaged throw- ing the deck load overboard, and in this manner disposed of thirty thousand. The schooner was then found to be in manageable condition and continued on her way. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Ludington Record Thursday, September 11, 1884 No marine news in this issue. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Ludington Record Thursday, September 18, 1884 [extracts of marine news] The P.
