Schooner "Senator Blood", 203 G.T. built 1863 at Oswego by Goble. Abandoned 1891. Schooner "George B. Sloane", 313 G.T., built 1873 at Oswego. Lost at Oswego 1885. Schooner "Cossack", 318 G.T., built at Oswego by Navagh. Ashore and lost 1881 at Cleveland, Ohio with a load of iron ore from Escanaba, Mich. Schooner "Florida", 299 G.T., built 1868 at Oswego by Goble. Ashore and lost on beach at Marquette, Mich. Lake Superior 1886. Schooner "George C. Finney", 300 G.T., built 1866 at Oswego by Goble. Foundered on Lake Erie 1891. Was then owned by Capt. Riordan of Buffalo. Schooner "Colonel Cook", 266 G.T., built 1855 at Oswego by Navagh as the "Augusta". Lost on beach at Cleveland 1892. As the "Augusta" she sunk the passenger steamer "Lady Elgin" on Lake Michigan with a tremendous loss of life on the night of Sept 9, 1860. She also made a trip to Europe and return to the lakes. Schooner "Guiding Star", 384 G.T., built 1867 at Oswego by Goble. Was abandoned at Big Bay Point, Lake Superior 1892. Schooner "O. M. Bond", 299 G.T., built 1873 at Oswego by Miller. Foundered on Lake Erie 1886, two lives lost. Schooner "Commanche", later the "Thomas Dobie", 322 G.T., built 1867 at Oswego. Was cut through by ice at Deseronto Dec. 3, 1904 and was abandoned 1905. Schooner "Delos de Wolf", 307 G.T., built 1856 at Oswego by Lee and Lamoree. This vessel was still active as late as 1909. Miller for Dunn and M. J. Cummings, who were partners. She was lost her first year when she struck the piers going into Chicago in a gale, foundered and was a total loss. Schooner "William Lewis", 238 G.T., built 1855 at Oswego by George R. Rogers. Was wrecked and aban- doned 1884. Schooner "Thomas Y. Avery", 256 G.T., built 1855 at Oswego by Rogers and was abandoned 1899 as unfit for service at Grand Haven, Michigan. Schooner "Dreadnaught", 412 G.T., 412 G.T., (sic) built 1856 at Oswego, by Rogers. Foundered 1893 on Lake Michigan off Racine, Wis. Schooner "Mackinaw", built 1847 at Oswego by George S. Weeks. Sunk by Steamer "Princeton" on Lake Erie 1851 near Cleveland. Schooner "Thomas Martin", 201 G.T., built 1862 at Oswego by Goble. Abandoned 1881. She was built on the bottom of the schooner "J. C. Riggs". Schooner "James Navagh", 374 G.T., built at Oswego by Navagh for Dunn and Cummings. Finally abandoned. Schooner "Czar", 353 G.T., built 1862 at Oswego by Lefebre. Ashore and lost at False Presque Isle, Lake Huron 1875. Schooner "Carthagenia", 374 G.T., built 1858 at Oswego by Miller in East Cove. Foundered on Lake Ontario 1867. Schooner "Algerine", 300 G.T., built 1856 at Oswego by Miller. Was wrecked and a total loss 1878. Captain James Scott of Oswego last owner. Schooner "Coleraine", 212 G.T., built 1854 at Oswego by George S. Weeks. Went on rocks in St. Law- rence River 1860 and the schooner "Commodore Foote" was built on her bottom in Oswego by A. McWhorter", 115 G.T., named for an Oswego man, was severely damaged in the great ice jam at Buffalo 1846 and later abandoned. Was built at Oswego. Schooner "Belle Sheridan", 256 G.T., built 1852 at Oswego by A. Miller. Foundered on Lake Ontario 1880 with all hands. Schooner "Plymouth Rock", 293 G.T., built 1852 at Oswego by A. Miller. Burned at Detroit 1884. Then a tow-barge. Schooner "Major Anderson", 143 G.T., built 1861 at Oswego on the bottom of the old schooner "Mary". Ashore and lost on Twin River Point on Lake Michigan 1863. Schooner "Gallatin", 317 G.T., built 1863 at Oswego by Miller. Foundered on Point Pelee Lake Erie 1882. Bark "Pathfinder", built 1847 a Oswego by Weeks, was lost on Lake Michigan near Chicago 1855. Schooner "Commodore Foote", 180 G.T., built 1862 at Oswego by Miller. Was sunk by schooner "John Kelderhouse" on Lake Huron 1867. Schooner "Samana", 287 G.T., built 1873 at Oswego, Later cut down to a tow-barge. Lost on the beach near Cleveland 1892 when she went ashore. This vessel was built on the bottom of the old schooner "Dane" that was wrecked in 1871. Brig. "Frontier City", 200 tons by old measurement, built at Oswego 1860 on the bottom of the old Brig. "Canton" and was lost at Kincardine, Ontario on Lake Huron 1871. Steamer "Rochester", 354 tons by old measurement, built at Oswego 1843. Abandoned 1850. Schooner "Admiral", 167 tons, built at Oswego 1852, wrecked near Toronto, Lake Ontario, 1867. Schooner "D. L. Couch", built at Oswego 1855. Schooner "Sassacus", 109 tons, built at Oswego 1867. Lost on Lake Michigan 1893. Schooner "J. Maria Scott", 378 tons, built at Oswego 1874. Later the Str. "White Star" and burned up at Detroit 1901. Schooner "George Goble", 318 tons, built at Oswego 1861 by Goble. Was sold to Canada and renamed "M. C. Cameron". Later cut down to tow-barge. U. S. Revenue Cutter "George M. Bibb", a propeller, built at Oswego 1843, 333 tons. Lost off Cape Cod, Mass. Nov. 28, 1898. Brig "Frontier City", 200 tons, built at Oswego 1860 on the bottom of the old brig "Canton", and was lost at Kincardine, Ont., Lake Huron, 1871. Schooner "Roman", built by Doolittle 1852 or 1853 on the bottom of the old propeller "Oswego". Foundered Lake Erie, 1858. Schooner "Olive Branch", 167 tons, built at Oswego 1866 by Goble for C. Bond and others. She foundered with all hands on Lake Ontario 1880. Steamer "United States", built at Ogdensburg 1831, broken up at Oswego 1843. Steamer "Queen of the West", 439 tons by old measure- ment 1851, burned up at Hamilton, Ontario. Steamer "George Clinton", built at Oswego 1842, ashore Lake Ontario 1851 near Genesee. Propeller "Vandalia", built 1841 in Doolittle Shipyard for joint account of Doolittle and the Oswego forwarding firm of Bronson & Crocker. 138-19/25 tons, 91 ft. long, 20.17 feet wide, 8.25 feet depth. Hit by schooner "Fashion" in Lake Erie near the mouth of the Detroit River 1851. Propeller "Oswego", built 1842 in Doolittle Ship- yard for the joint account of Doolittle and the Oswego forwarding firm of Bronson & Crocker. Converted to schooner "Roman" 1852 or 1853 and lost in Lake Erie 1858. Steamer "Lady of the Lake", 425 tons, built at Oswego 1842 by Weeks. Burned at Brown's wharf, Toronto 1855. She was then the "Queen City". Steamer "Thomas Kingsford", 300 G.T., built 1880 at Oswego, sunk by Canadian Str. Saxon near Belleville, Ont. in Bay of Quinte. Was raised and re-named "John H. Pauley". Was burned up in St. Clair River in 1906. Propeller "New York", built 1843 in Doolittle Ship- yard for joint account of Doolittle and the Oswego forwarding firm of Bronson & Crocker. Propeller "Racine", built 1844 in Doolittle Shipyard for joint account of Doolittle and Oswego forwarding firm of Bronson & Crocker. After two years she was converted into a schooner. This failed to cure her slow recovery and was lost in a light gale. She was apparently top heavy. Propeller "Syracuse", built 1845 by Weeks for Moses Merrick & Co. Sold to Canadian interest 1851. Lost in 1852. Steamer "Rochester", built 1842 by Weeks, 350 tons, ran between Cape Vincent and Kingston. Steamer "St. Lawrence", built 1838-39 for Henry Fitzhugh, Oswego; Garrit Smith, Peterboro and Van Rens- selair, Ogdensburg. 402 tons, rebuilt 1844 and increased to 434 tons, 180 x 28 x 11. Laid up in Clayton 1850 and was finally broken up in Clayton or Washington Island, near Clayton, 1854. Steamer "Northerner", built by Weeks 1849; 1061 tons, 238.2 x 31.1 x 12.5. Scrapped in 1875 after her name was changed to "State of Virginia". She was probably scrapped in Richmond. Steamer "Oneida", built 1836; 227 tons by old measurement. Changed to sail 1845 and lost in Lake Erie. Steamer "Oswego", built 1833 for Northern Trans- portation Co., 285 tons. After six years she foundered west of Oswego and her engines transferred to Str. St. Lawrence in 1839. The hull was sold to Canadian interest who changed her name to "Alligator" and converted to sail.
