Sunday night, at 10 o'clock, WALKER and a compan- ion were discovered in a chicken coop on the Merrill farm, midway between Coleman and Gladwin. Mr. JOYCE, foreman on the farm, and his son-in-law, had the man covered and ordered him to surrender, which he did. JOYCE'S son-in-law was standing near with a gun in his hand loaded and cocked. It was suddenly dis- charged and the charge passed through WALKER'S left thigh, shattering the bone into dozens of pieces. He was removed to to the poor farm where he died immediately after amputation. He had a mother and sister in New York and a sister at Sault Ste. Marie. He was a stranger in Gladwin. =========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ===========================================================================
