I, Elihu Cooley of the City of Flint in the County of Genesee and State of Michigan, being weak in body, but of sound and perfect memory blessed be Almighty God for the same, and considering the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, and considering also the importance of getting ready to die, Do make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner and form following, that is to say, First, my honest debts are to be paid. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my wife Almira Cooley the use of my real estate, bein in the City of Flint, the same that I recently purchased of M. E. Griswold of said City of Flint, and described as follows to wit: The east part of the south half of a piece of land described in a deed from John Butler to Perkins H. Green, dated the ninth day of August, 1848. The land hereby conveyed is bounded East by Church street in the Village of Flint, South by land of George M. Dewey, known as the Backwell land, West and North by Land of James Henderson, Contain- ing half an acre being in the Village of Flint (now City of Flint) County and state aforesaid. I also bequeath to my said wife Almira Cooley the use of the household furni- ture, both the said described land and furniture during her natural life, also, I give and bequeath to my said wife one hundred dollars a year during her natural life. I also give and bequeath to my grand children whose names are Minerva, Levi, and Harriet, being children of my daughter Rachel Harper (deceased). I also give and bequeath to my son Elihue Cooley the sum of two hundred dollars, and if the said Elihue Cooley is dead, the said two hundred dollars is to be equally divided among my grand children, and in case of the decease of any of my grand children before my decease, then the share or shares of the said deceased ones, shall be equally divided among my surviving grand children. I also give and bequeath to my son Orsimus Cooley the rest of my property both personal and real, and I also appoint the said Orsimus Cooley Executor of this my last will and testament, and I hereby authorize and empower him to sell all my real and personal estate for the purpose of paying all the within legacies. In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-sixth day of December, One thousand eight hundred and sixty five at the City of Flint.
