         Mrs. M. LOUISA THAYER, wife of Hon. ARTEMAS THAYER,
       of Flint, died Tuesday evening after a long and pain-
       ful sickness. Mrs. THAYER came to Genesee County with
       her father about forty-five years ago. She has been a
       very active member of society here for a great many
       years, and it was largely owing to her influence that
       the Ladies' Library, in which she always took a great
       interest, was founded.
