M. PUTNAM, one of the most highly respected citizens of Flint, died at his resi- dence this morning after a few days' illness. The deceased was born in Batavia, N. Y., Sep- tember 10, 1842, and moved to this county with his father when a lad of 13 years. Here he attended the public schools until 1860, when he returned to the city of his birth to study medicine. Three years later he entered Hahneman medical college, Philadelphia, where, in 1867, he graduated with the degree of doctor of medicine. After graduating he returned to Flint to practice his profession, where he had built up a reputation for himself that placed him among the leading physicians of the city, and gave him a state reputation as a homeo- pathist. He was married in 1873, but was un- fortunate in losing his lovely and devoted wife after ten years of wedded life. He left a father, two daughters, Mrs. WALTER DUFFY, of Rochester, N. Y., and Miss EFFIE DOUGLAS PUTNAM, who has been spending the winter abroad, and who is now in Paris. He was a brother of ROMAIN PUTNAM, the veteran produce dealer and business man of this city. He was a member of the State Homeopathic Medical Society, and of the Masonic order. He stood high in the esti- mation of his fellow-physicians, and was a kind and generous man. The funeral will occur from his residence Friday afternoon, and his remains will be interred in the Glenwood cemetery. ===========================================================================
