It seems that he was tempo- rarily ill and went to bed with some fever. During the night he arose and stripped himself of everything upon his person, and left the house barefooted and in a state of utter nud- ity. Since that time no trace of him can be found, although most dilligent search has been made for the last two days by a large party of men and boys in Charlotte and vicinity. He was lately from Hastings, where he has a relative or two. (Transcriber's Note: The 1870 Census Mortality Schedule for Charlotte, Easton Co., MI. shows William Bailey, age 35, born in England, Insane - died of exposure.) ===============================================================================
