         Sault. Ste. Marie, Mich., - Jan. 9.
         News of the death of JOHN GEORGE JOHNSTON,
       80 years old, the oldest resident of Chippewa
       county, was received Tuesday. He spent nearly all
       his life among Indian tribes of this vicinity
       acting as interpreter and handling important
       business for the Chippewas. He will be buried
       at the Indian mission cemetery at Bay Mills.
