A. FORD HURSLEY committed suicide at the Park hotel, Sault Ste. Marie, last Saturday. He shot himself through the head with a thirty-eight caliber revolver. FORD HURSLEY, as he was more familiarly known, was one of the best known lake captains on the chain of lakes. He preceded JOHN McNAUGHTON as sheriff of the county for four years, and made an unsuccessful run for county treasurer last fall on the Democratic ticket. Since his de- feat he has had many ups and downs which must have unbalanced his mind. He passed most of the after- noon with DR. C. J. ENNIS and JOHN H. MORE, and at 7 o'clock went with them to the Park for supper. While standing in the office talking with some friends he excused himself, went to the toilet room and immediately committed the rash act. Death was instantaneous. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Marine Record Cleveland, OH Thursday, April 11, 1895 CAPT. A.
