WICKER DEAD. MR. JOEL H. WICKER, who has been in poor health for sometime, died Saturday evening, aged 76 years. MR. WICKER was a son of a Methodist minister, and was born at Pittsfield, Vt., in April, 1812. In 1821 the family removed to New York State, thence, in 1837, MR. WICKER removed to Ohio, and from there to Chicago in 1839. Here he remained, following the business of railroad and canal building principally until 1878, when he came to St. Joseph, and ever since resided here. He was at one time interested with MR. MORRISON in the wooden ware manufacturing industry, afterwards also active in other business enterprises. His life generally was a busy one in a business way. A brother, HON. C. G. WICKER, of Chicago, a sister, MRS. S. RAND ofDesplaines, Ill., two daughters, MISS JENNIE, who so faithfully remained with her father and cared for him, and MRS. D. O. DICKINSON, of Chicago, survive the kindly brother and father. The funeral services were held at his late home, on Niles av., on Monday forenoon, many friends and neighbors besides the immediate members of the family being present. Rev. M. D. CARREL conducted the services, after which the remains were taken by early afternoon train to Chicago to Graceland Cemetery, in that city, and placed in a vault where they will remain for several months to be finally interred by the side of his mother. The family desire to express their deep thanks for valuable aid rendered by all in their bereave- ment. ========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ==========================================================================
