H. C. SHERWOOD The news of the death of Hon. H. C. SHERWOOD, at his home in Watervliet, on Saturday morning, was received with sincere regret. The cause was apoplexy, which seized him on Friday afternoon. MR. SHERWOOD was an affable gentleman, a popu- lar and leading Democrat; was elected State Senator from this District for one term, ran against Mr. BURROWS for Congress in 1886 but was defeated, and represented his party as dele- gate at many important conventions. He was a farmer and prominent in agricultural and horti- cultural matters. His age was 58 years. He leaves a widow and a son. His funeral occirred on Monday, when his remains were taken to New York - his native State - for burial.
