METCALF, of Niles, aged about ten years, accidentally shot his younger brother, EZRA, aged six years, with a fowling piece, a day or two since, which caused his death in about eight hours. They were alone in the house at the time. The gun was loaded with shot, which took effect in the outer angle of the left eye, pass- ing through the brain, and lodging under the scalp opposite. He was a little fellow of much promise, and his loss is a sad one to the bereaved parents. *Transcriber Note: The 1860 Federal Census Mortality Schedule gives his name as JABEZ METCALF. The enumer- ator also made a detailed note on the page bottom which also states JABEZ METCALF. ==============================================================================
