SAMUEL HOOKER, near Berrien Centre, on Monday last, had his leg badly mangled in a threshing machine, his foot slip- ping into the cylinder when he was attempting to walke across the machine. His leg was amputated above the knee, the operation being performed by Drs. Bonine & Dougan of this City, assisted by Dr. Hall of Berrien Springs. His recovery is doubtful. P.S. - Since writing the above we learn from a friend, that the unfortunate victim of this sad accident died from the effects of his wound. Young HOOKER was a most promising and excellent young man and the afflicted parents are bowed with the deepest grief. A large concourse of people attended the funeral at the Union Church on Wednesday last - Republican. ===========================================================================
