It is supposed he was drowned, as the canoe in which he was last seen, was picked up floating down the stream, bottom upwards. Horrible Accident On Thursday afternoon last, a German in the employ of Hayward & Gordon, owners of the upper steam saw mill, in this village, while in the act of putting a belt on a pulley, had his frock entangled with it in such a manner that he was caught up and carried round a shaft with such velocity that his clothing was all torn off, his brains dashed out, and his body horribly mangled. Of course his death was instantaneous. A coroner's jury having been summoned, gave a verdict in accordance with the above facts. The unfortunate man leaves a wife and one child to mourn his untimely death. ===============================================================================
