SIGLER, Inc., music store at 30 North Second street, this city, and a manufacturer of player pianos, died late yesterday afternoon at his home in Hastings, Mich., after a brief illness. GEORGE P. SHEAFFER, secretary and treasurer of the store here, left for Hastings last night to accompany the body to Harrisburg, where it will be buried. MRS. SIGLER, who resided in Hastings, will return with him. MR. SIGLER was born in Burkettsville, Md., and came to this city about thirty-three years ago to attend school. He then became interested in the music business, and opened a small store. Shortly afterwards he opened a business for himself, and for a number of years was located at 212 Market street. About fifteen years ago he became active in the manufacture of player pianos, with a plant on Allison Hill. About seven years ago he removed his manufacturing location to Hastings, Mich., where it is now being con- ducted under the name of the SIGLER Player Action Company. This was done to get nearer the hardwood belt and the general piano in- dustry. Prior to leaving here the local business was incorporated with MR. SIGLER as presi- dent and GEORGE P. SHEAFFER as the other active administrative head. A brother, MARTIN A. SIGLER, is also a member of the firm. MR. SIGLER was active in his busi- ness up until his death. Last month he at- tended the annual convention of piano manu- facturers at Hotel Drake, in Chicago, where his player action was displayed and demon- strated. Surviving him is his widow, MRS. LAURA FORNEY SIGLER; a brother MARTIN A. SIGLER, of this city, and a sister, MRS. LUTHER HUFFER, of Etters, P. O., near Goldsboro, York county. While in Harrisburg MR. SIGLER was a mem- ber of the First Church of God, and for a number of years was superintendent of the Sunday School. He was also prominent in Masonic circles here, and was a thirty- second degree Mason. Arrangements for burial have not been completed. ===============================================================================
