PIERSON, aged about 75 years, was found dead in the Thorn- apple river in this village this morning about 8 o'clock. IRVING BETTS observed the body floating in the water near the boom west of the Globe knit- ting mills and pulled it out. PIERSON had lived in Middleville about five years, but for 40 years pre- viously had been a resident of Yankee Springs town- ship. A widow, a son, GUY PIERSON, of Wayland, and two daughters, MRS. FRANK SHAW and MRS. PEARL PUT- NAM, of this village survive. Whether or not the drowning was accidental or intentional is a matter of conjecture, but MR. PIERSON had been in poor health for some time and had been heard upon different occasions to remark that there was no longer any object or pleasure in life, and that he would be better off if he were dead. ===============================================================================
