Monday, 24 May, 1869

         Thursday night a terrible accident happened on Jordan
       Lake, a small sheet of water on the county line between
       Ionia and Barry, and in the townships of Woodland and
       Odessa. Mr. ALONZO OTTO, Miss ESTELLA OTTO, Miss SIMMONS
       and a Miss BALSTON, from Kalamazoo, were drowned by the
       capsizing of a boat.
