BAVERSTOCK, slashed his throat when he was reluctant in giving them money and then left them to die in the house, which they set on fire. BAVERSTOCK made a state- ment after recovering from his wounds. Officers had held the theory that the farmer killed his wife while temporarily insane and then attempted suicide. They were about to file charges against him when he made the statement, and their investi- gation since, it was said has in part borne out his story. The case in some respects, officers stated, resembled the recent triple murder at Dowagiac. ===============================================================================
