Hastings, Mich., July 21. - CHARLES FEIGHNER, a prominent farmer living one mile north of Nash- ville, exchanged shots with a daring burglar whom he pursued on horseback last night. The hired girl, hearing some one trying to force an entrance aroused the family. MR. FEIGHNER ob- tained a revolver, opened the window and hailed the man who was in the act of carrying off some articles. At the sound of FEIGHNER'S voice, a rig in front of the house started up the road, leaving the burglar to hurry on behind. Hastily mounting his horse, FEIGHNER started in pursuit. He overtook the man who leaped over a fence and took refuge behind a tree. Both men opened fire with revolvers at the same time. None of the shots took effect and the fugitive disappeared in the darkness. Sheriff RITCHIE has been looking for a strange man seen in the vicinity earlier in the evening. ===============================================================================
