Ensign & Co., Philadelphia - 1880 [p. 472] JOHN BOWNE emigrated from Homer, Courtland Co., N.Y., in the spring of 1836, to Prairieville, and lived during the summer on the farm of ASAHEL TILLOTSON. In the fall of 1837 he purchased land in the present township of Barry, but subsequently traded farms with HIRAM TILLOTSON, in Prairie- ville. In 1850 he was a member of the State Senate. His son, ANDREW BOWNE, is a well-known banker in the city of Hastings. ===============================================================================
